1999 GT3 MK1 Clubsport: Werks Delivery Carbon Package
-
Our favorite 911 hands down. The homologation car that made the supercup of the GT series. This was the car that began the epic brand that became the GT3. The only GT car that was hand built at Weissach on the same assembly line as the cup cars.
The Clubsport package was a cost free option in the Mk1, before Porsche realized the monetization of the sonderwunsch program.
The dramatic difference of the clubsport 003 package:
The modern lightweight track car that has aged into a touring purist’s powerhouse, the perfect bridge between air-cooled romance and modern performance
We fell hard for the MK1 due to its original GT1 styling, and the scarcity factor of being the only hand built and ROW specific GT3
Factory Welded Roll Cage to the chassis before primer, built on the Carrera 4 chassis for increased rigidity
Single-Mass Flywheel (cup car spec)
Lightweight Reinforced Doors without speakers or airbags
FIA cup spec kill switches on console and bonnet
Mezger flat six from GT1 with lowered redline for longevity- (Manthey Kit raises redline by 1000 rpm)

Werks delivery is the peak of Porsche heritage: first production July 1999 and hand built for use at Zuffenhausen. This example spent it first year being driven by Porsche execs, press, media or whomever in the Pcar world that was visiting the facilities at Zuffenhausen or Stuttgart.
The carbon-clubsport came from a distinguished collection in Belgium. Alongside a speedster and early A 356, this was the owners modern classic, that was kept in a climate controlled garage up on a lift.
This car was ordered in all carbon interior which is extremely rare for the clubsport variant, as many who opted for the track // cup-car spec did not bother with costly trimming options as they were quite simply track weapons from the start.
The carbon-silver werks-belgie is entirely in first paint outside of a cosmetic respray on the front passenger fender.

the club sport is quite a bit more rowdy than all touring cars, as its the only 996 GT to receive the cup car flywheel. the merger rumbles at idle vibrating the chassis, this is a motorsport David dog that needs to eat, powerband is best from 4500-8000.
We cannot stress enough, this is a purist’s one car solution for those that lean towards a lightweight 911 that reacts to the pilot.
Its power-to-weight ratio was remarkable for the era, and the motorsport department was able to get equal horsepower and torque the displacement of the 3.6 964 block Mezger dry sump.

The Belgie Carbon Clubsport was transported to Manthey racing in Nürburg for her final service in Europe. A fitting completion to this iconic modern classic of Porsche racing history. A new battery was also installed as well as Michelin Cups in preparation for the sale.
The car is presently on consignment with our friends at Friedman Motor Cars in NYC. Please reach out if you want full records and history on this collector grade clubsport.
